I am an Art History major and my advisor strongly suggested learning a European language. I have decided on French since French culture is a big part of the Arts….is it very difficult to learn (pronunciation wise, etc?)
French is as easy or as difficult to learn as any second language would be. You can’t judge by me, because I’ve been speaking French since I first learned to speak. However, when I studied Spanish, I found it easy to learn because it had many of the same types of grammatical and verb "problems" as French, things that don’t exist in English such as agreement of adjectives or placement of words in a sentence.

If you are a native English speaker, I’m sure the pronounciation is very difficult.
Also be prepared for the grammar which is more complicated than English.

French is far easier than english. English is the hardest language to learn, so any other language is going to be easier. I took french in school for 8 years and it wasn’t too difficult.

French is not difficult to learn at all. The grammar makes sense. I learned it decades ago, still remember how to compose a sentence, but have sorely lost the vocabulary.
Pronunciation comes in time. It’s the most beautiful sounding of all languages in my opinion.
Again, it is not difficult to learn. Go for it. You’ll do fine.

It’s fairly easy but the pronunciation can be tough (i.e. the ‘"u" sound for Enlish speakers can be a nightmare) and French grammar is one of the most complex in the world (different tenses and moods such as conditional, past conditional, subjonctive "futur antérieur"… Hell there are even some tenses that I don’t know) but when you start learning French grammar is fairly easy.
