I am currently on lesson 41 of Pimsleur French. So far, this program has been amazing. I can already have basic conversations with people. I finished disk 2 of 3 of Rosetta Stone, and for the most part, it was pretty disappointing. I was wondering, once I finish lesson 90 of pimsleur, how good will my French be?
Preferably, I would like to hear a response from someone who is either near the end of their Pimsleur program or has finished it, but if you have any information on the quality of this program when used efficiently, that is good too. Tell me what language you did and how many lessons you did (not all of the languages have 90 lessons). How was Pimseleur for you?

I didn’t do French, but I did all 90 lessons of Pimsleur Japanese. It totally rocked, and it gave me a very solid foundation on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
I used it in conjunction with Anki electronic flash card system (using Spaced Repetition, similar to the Pimsluer approach) to solidify my vocabulary and I had a few old grammar books that I used occasionally for reference when something didn’t make sense.
It didn’t make me fluent — but it gave me survival skills, compliments on my pronunciation, and it made it simple to move on to intermediate and advance studies. I totally recommend it, and I think it is far, far superior to Rosetta stone.
Have fun and enjoy the French version!
Edit note:
LOL at the downvoter! If you didn’t like Pimsleur, then log and say why. Don’t be such a cowardly troll
