I have tried Pimsleur, but for another language. My only complaint is that there isn’t a booklet to come with it. Since you have already had a few years of French, that might not be a problem since you will recognize a lot of words you hear from your previous classes.
The conversational CDs begin at a very basic level, so you might feel like it is too slow for you. If you have forgotten a lot, then maybe you won’t mind it at all. In my case, I was learning a new language from scratch, so the beginners level was perfect.
TIP: To brush up on your French without having to shell out $35, if you have ITunes, get the Coffee Break French podcast (podcasts are free) and subscribe to each episode. I tried it just for fun, and I enjoyed it. I think it is as good as Pimsleur, and more fun because the co-hosts are pleasant to listen to.
Good luck and enjoy your trip

I’ve tried it in French. It can be a little tricky without a booklet, but if you are familiar with some of the words said in audio, then that could be helpful.
It easily covers a lot of conversational topics and queries, and is perfect prior to visiting France. I tried Pimsleur and another CD before my trip last June, and it was quite successful. I would definitely recommend it.
