i have to research facts about it and they want me to answer why burundi speaks french. in better words, why is burundi a french speaking country. if you guys know the answer please help me i cant find it ont the web.

Of course, African languages will be the most commonly spoken, but very often the European language derived from the former colonial power is the one that is understood throughout a country.

So the fact that Burundi was administered by Belgium under UN trusteeship is not enough. You have to add also that in those days the Belgian elite was dominated by the French speaking minority.
