I took french from grade one, to grade 10 IB. I’m in grade 11 next year, but i didn’t take the course because i don’t have room in my schedule. How can I continue learning the language properly on my own?
Hi!
Kudos for wanting to keep up with your French!
I suspect you are already fairly advanced, so here are some suggestions to help you hone and perfect your grasp of the language:
1.Check out French-dubbed DVDs and French TV stations to better understand how certain words and phrases are pronounced
2. Check out French magazines and newspapers online to see how well you understand the topics that are discussed, and check out the library for some French lit
3. Consider a tutor: they’re usually pretty affordable, and for the most part they instruct high school teens, so they’re familiar with the curriculum. Better yet, if some of your friends are taking the class, see if they can give you some lessons. They DO know the curriculum, because they have to follow it- and they might even do it for free!
Bonne chance et bonnes etudes! (sorry, the accents don’t work on this site

check out french books from you local librariy and sometimes the school library has copies of the textbook
you may or may not want to use an internet tutor because it may have a different curiculum set up
bonne chance!

Rosetta stone is a very good way, i would think by now you could speak it pretty well? But continue to talk to other people in French, chat with people from France on here also? Use it or loose it!
