I want to learn how to play the french horn, but I am afraid it might mess up my embrochure. Anyone know?
Second choice is cello.
French horn won’t really take me anywhere, I just want to learn it. I’m not one of those dime a dozen flute players, haha.
To start out my answer i would like to say that french horn will take you places… alo omre than flute.. some colleges can give up to a full ride with a french horn scholarship…
I am a french Horn player but i also play alot of other things
I play:
1.Clarinet
2.Alto Sax
3.Bari Sax
4.TC Baritone
5.Mellophone
6.Trumpet
7.Piano
8.Bass Guitar
French Horn will NOT screw up your enbrouchure … ALOT of flute players can switch between flute and french horn becuase they both has tight embrouchures. The french horn is a beautiful instrument when played well. Good Luck

It shouldn’t. I’m a flute player who has been playing trumpet for a bit. It is hard to switch from brass to the flute immediately, but longterm it shouldn’t have much of an effect. Cellos are cool too.

French horn rocks. And no, it won’t mess with your embouchure. Just don’t try to play the flute immediatley after you play the horn. I played flute and switched to trombone and had much more fun.
French horn will take you more places than flute ( a dime a dozen) or cello.
Enjoy making music!

I’ve been in music for 9 years and I’ve been playing clarinet the longest. When I was in high school I tried everything! I now play 5 instruments:
1)Clarinet
2)Percussion
3)French Horn
4)Alto Saxaphone
5)Piano
NOW, Yes, it will be a little odd and difficult to adjust to at first but trust me, it goes away, and you will get better! It will be very fun, and I REALLY encourage you to do it. You just have to get used to it, but I promise you it will work! Don’t worry about messing it up because you’ll still have thate flute embrochure.
GOOD LUCK!
