How proficient in French will I be after I finish both Pimsleur and Rosetta Stone?

I am very far in both of these programs. I am on lesson 65 of 90 for Pimsleur and I am beginning disk 3 of 3 of Rosetta Stone.

I feel like, yeah I know a lot of French, but I don’t really feel like I’m where I wanted to be. I don’t expect to get amazingly good at French at the end of these programs.

Has anyone else completed these programs and had it work very well for them? If you had the same attitude as me while at the same part of the programs or If you were as disappointed as me, can you recommend something you did to add on to the knowledge that these programs gave you?

Personally, I’m convinced that the only way to actually learn how to speak a language is to actually use it in real life.

Is doing postgrad French translation after undergrad Biochemistry a good idea?

I live in India and have this thing for languages. Lately, I’ve been thinking it might be nice to change my line and do an M.A French Translation. I’ve studied french for a little more than 4 years and think I’ve got a thing for the language.
Aside from french, I’m fluent in 3 other languages. Do you think a postgrad in French Translation is a good idea?
