Please does anyone know where I can get a fairly-good free online translator from English to French?

I am studying in a francophone country and I am having problems because I take notes in English and try to translate to French later on. The process is usually time-comsuming and tedious. So I will appreciate your help.
Is Pimsleur better that Rosetta Stone?
I’ve tried a couple and some are inconsistent and do alternate translations w/ no regard to the context or literal, one-word, stacatto translations that hurts me when it comes to translating longer excerpts of english into french and vice versa. Any suggestions? I’d like a link, please.
